Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
The Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum is another structure composed of membranes. It is very similar to the smooth endoplasmic reticulum but is covered in ribosomes to synthesize proteins that give it a rough appearance. It plays a very important role in synthesizing compounds for the cell.
