Biochemistry Home
Ahh, biochemistry. Probably my least favorite topic about biology. If consists of many complex formulas and processes that can be extremely confusing. However, with a bit of hard work and determination, even this tough topic can be easy to understand and use.
This is, in all seriousness, essentially chemistry. The only way that it relates to biology is in the fact that all the chemical processes that it involves take place in living things. Photosynthesis, for example, is a complex chemical process that takes place entirely in plants. The process can be totally explained in a chemical fashion, as it can be broken down to the reactions between molecules. But, then again, isn't every living thing just a massive group of extremely complex chemical reactions all connected together that allow us to live? But anyway, the two topics in biochemistry that I've included on this site are Photosynthesis, which is the chemical process that allows plants to convert sunlight into energy, and Cellular Respiration, which is the chemical process by which cells can process oxygen and convert molecules such as complex sugars into energy that the cell can use to function.
Biochemistry consists of several different subtopics, all of which have different applications in overall biology. The links to the sub-pages can be found below:
If you have an idea for another topic in the category of cellular respiration, please leave a suggestion in the form on the bottom of the page!
